Special Village Election Information

A special election will be held on Tuesday, February 28th to consider two millage increases.  They are a General Fund millage increase earmarked for the operation of the Police Department and to restore the Village's rainy day fund (fund balance) and a Fire Protection Services millage which covers the operation of the Fire Department.

The Fire millage is proposed to increase by .5414 mills.  The General Fund millage increase is for .4 mills for a period of four years.  At the end of the four year period (2012 - 2015), the additional millage will no longer be levied.

Information on the two ballot proposals is available here on the Village website or you may direct questions to the Village Administrator by calling 626-9666 or email at administrator@franklin.mi.us.

An informational meeting will be held at the Franklin Community Church on Wednesday February 8th at 7 p.m.  Representatives from the Village will be available to answer your questions on the election ballot proposals.

An interactive calculator is available to compute the maximum tax increase for each proposal.  You will need to know your property's taxable value which is approximately half the value of your property.  Click here for the Police and General Services Millage tax calculator.  Click here for the Fire Millage tax calculator.

A "Question and Answer" document has been prepared to answer questions on the ballot propositions.
