Use of the
Library Building for Public Meetings
POLICY:
It is the policy of the Franklin Public
Library to make available the library building to Franklin
residents for the purpose of holding public meetings when the
building is not in use for Library purposes.
REGULATIONS:
- The library building is available
without cost to Franklin residents for the purpose of
holding public meetings, except that the building will
not be available during scheduled library hours, programs
and meetings.
- Requests for use must be made to the
librarian at least one week prior to the date of meeting.
All requests must be approved by at least one library
trustee and applicants should allow sufficient time for
approval.
- No library property may be used other
than the building itself and necessary furniture.
- Smoking is not permitted.
- Serving of food and beverages is not
permitted except that, under special circumstances,
applications for an exception will be considered by the
full library board.
- The person(s) making the reservation
shall be completely responsible for library property
during the meeting and for adequate security in
connection with the meeting. This person(s) shall:
- Assure that attendees comply
with all library regulations.
- Be held accountable for all
property, including the book collection.
- Secure the building after the
meeting, including closing and locking all doors
and windows and turning out all lights.
- Return the library key to the
librarian within twenty four hours after the
scheduled meeting.
- Restore the building to the
normal state for library use, including proper
storage of temporarily used furniture.
