Village Council (Elected)
The business of Franklin is run by an elected Village Board of Trustees, or Council. The volunteer Council includes a president and six trustees elected to four year terms. Council meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 8:00 PM held in the Franklin Village Office, 32325 Franklin Road.

Library Board of Trustees (Elected)
The Library is managed independently by a Board of Trustees and is funded by a separate millage. The six trustees are elected to four year terms. The Board of Trustees meets the second Monday of each month.

Historic Commission (Volunteers Appointed by Council)
The Commission reviews proposals for building or remodeling homes in light of the Village's historic character within the designated Historic District. All recommendations from this commission must be approved by Council. The seven members of the commission are appointed for 3 year terms by the Village Council. The commission meets the first Monday of each month at 7:30 PM held at the Franklin Village Office 32325 Franklin Road.

Planning Commission (Volunteers Appointed by Council)
The Commission reviews all proposed and new site developments and oversees the development of the Village's Master Plan. There are nine commission members appointed by Council to three year terms. All Planning Commission recommendations must be approved by the Council. The commission meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM held at the Franklin Village Office 32325 Franklin Road.

Zoning Board of Appeals (Volunteers Appointed by Council)
The board reviews all appeals for variance from building codes and zoning restrictions. The board is appointed by the Council and all their recommendations must be approved by the Council. The Board meets as necessary on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM held at the Franklin Village Office 32325 Franklin Road.

Franklin Police Department (Employed by Council)
The Franklin Police Department Police Facility, which consists of a police chief, nine officers and eleven volunteer reserves. The department serves Franklin and Bingham Farms Villages.

Franklin-Bingham Fire Department (Volunteer)
The Fire Department is a private, non-profit corporation and its services are provided to Franklin and Bingham Farms by a staff of forty volunteers and a chief. The department is funded by its own millage and directed by a Board of Fire Commissioners elected from active department volunteers who are taxpayers in the communities served.
