Police Department

The Franklin-Bingham Farms Police Department is a progressive, traditional, full service law enforcement agency that serves the 4,000 plus residents of the Villages of Franklin and Bingham Farms. During the work week this number is increased by several thousand more individuals who work in the commercial district of Bingham Farms or shop and dine in the quaint businesses that are located in the Village of Franklin.

The Police Department provides 24/7 police service and is staffed by 10 full-time police officers. This includes the Chief of Police, a Detective Lieutenant, 2 Police Sergeants and 6 police officers. The department also has a part-time police officer, 2 part-time civilian police clerks, and seven reserve police officers.

The Chief of Police is responsible for the overall management of police services in the villages. Reporting to the Village Administrator, the Chief and his staff plan, organize and direct all police department operations to provide a safe and orderly environment for residents and visitors.

The Detective Lieutenant is responsible for investigating serious crimes and for supervising all follow up investigations. The Patrol Bureau, which is staff by six police officers and supervised by the two Police Sergeants, is responsible for providing the initial response to emergencies and calls for police service. The Bureau also handles traffic enforcement and accident investigations.

The Police Department places a strong emphasis on community policing through the development of partnerships with residents, community organizations and business owners.
