860.01 UNINVITED PEDDLING AND SOLICITING PROHIBITED.
The practice of going in and upon private residences in
the Village of Franklin by solicitors, peddlers,
hawkers, itinerant merchants or transient vendors of
merchandise, not having been requested or invited to do
so by the owner or owners or the occupant or occupants
of said private residences, for the purpose of
soliciting orders for the sale of, or the sale of,
goods, wares and merchandise, and/or disposing of and/or
peddling or hawking the same, is hereby declared to be a
nuisance and is prohibited.

860.02 EXCEPTIONS.
This chapter shall not apply to the sale of, soliciting
of orders for the sale of, or solicitation with respect
to:
(a) Daily newspapers, milk, dairy products, vegetables,
poultry, eggs and other farm and garden produce; and
(b) Goods, wares and merchandise of, or donations to, a
corporation, a trust, a community chest, a fund or a
foundation, which has received from the Internal Revenue
Service of the United States Treasury Department a
written ruling specifically holding that such
organization qualifies under Section 170 (c) of the
Federal Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended to the
date of enactment of this chapter, as a corporation, a
trust, a community chest, a fund or a foundation
organized and operated exclusively for religious,
charitable, scientific, literary or educational
purposes, or for the prevention of cruelty to children
or animals, no part of the net earnings of which inures
to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual
and no substantial part of the activities of which is
propagandizing or otherwise attempting to influence
legislation.
